The pill is not 100% fool-safe. There are occasions and situations where it can loose it's effect.

In my case, I was treating an acute ear-infection with antibiotics. Those antibiotics nullified the effect of the pill for that month. Only that, at the time, I didn't know this - and my doc who had prescribed the antibiotics had not avvised me about this possibility (in some other countries of the world, perhaps I could have sued him - not here where I live though).

Had I known, I would have used other contraceptive measures.
