Somebody started a thread asking something about what it was like for the women and did they respect their husbands, etc. One, (I don't remember who) responded that she lost all respect for her husband and was very much hurt at first at the idea that he wanted to share her with someone else . . . period. She was hurt and saddened that he no longer had that special feeling for her and wanted to share her with anyone. IIRC, she also was hurt by what she felt was a lack of concern for her feelings as a person by assuming that she would want to be with someone else, etc.

She agreed to be with the other guy(s) because she felt like her marraige was essentially over the instant he wanted to share her with someone else and figured that she might as well enjoy the sex with other men and could make him happy at the same time.

I don't remember whether she had left him or not; but it was a sad posting. You could feel her hurt just reading it. She warned the fantasy husbands on the board to be careful what they wished for. Then she said something about being bummed out her post, (which I thought was totally understandable considering her experience), and left the thread.

Obviously, not every woman reacts that way. But it does point out what a dangerous position any spouse is in if they are the first one to broach the subject of adding anyone to their sex life. How is he/she going to react? Do they have the same understanding of your relationship that you do? Are they going to say, "Hell yeah! I was wondering when you were going to get around to it." or are they going to feel irretrievably rejected because you ever even thought it? Damn tricky spot.
