It's an American term. I never use it. Black African's, Black Europeans, Black Asian's and Australasian's tend not to use it unless they're wannabe American's.

It's a shame because only a small minority of the worlds Black people live in United States but they have the biggest influence culturally on how we're viewed and how we view ourselves now and for generations to come.

Issues with race are complex in America I know. To each their own but I use the term Black instead, the same effect but without the total disrespect! BBC instead of BNC.
