It's a shame because only a small minority of the worlds Black people live in United States but they have the biggest influence culturally on how we're viewed and how we view ourselves now and for generations to come.

Issues with race are complex in America I know. To each their own but I use the term Black instead, the same effect but without the total disrespect! BBC instead of BNC.
yes you are so right, you rarely hear the N word spoken among blacks in London. If it is its the wannabee yankees who mimic what they see on the Wire, which ironically is written by two white men, an ex cop and a journalist. So could they deliberately over use the N word for dramatic effect or to make fun of black culture and behaviour for the mainstream audience who want to be 'frightened' by ghetto blacks to up the ratings? I believe Spike Lee and others criticised Quentin Tarantino for the over use of the N word and stereotyping of blacks, not much different from the tarzan and gun with the wind era. Remember the Sicilian scene in True Romance? He claimed he went to an all black school, lived in an all black neighborhood so understood black culture better than other white film makers.

Back to the original point, i had a white gf who kind of thought she was black, she understood the racism of the mainstream that other whites would not notice and was down with the blacks. However she used the N word to describe blacks who acted in a stereotyped way, which got my blood to boil. She would not refer to white men by any racist or offensive term when they act negatively. She explained she once lived with a black American in london who was a dj, he and his US freinds used the word all the time and she understood how they used it she used it the same way. I had to educate her it does not sit well and is offensive when used. This is not America, its not part of black british culture.

however when having sex, I dont know how it would feel with a white woman screaming out 'fuck me you nigger!' It may sound hilarious but at the same time i dont know if it would strike a raw nerve. I raised this point in another thread but did not get any feed back
